Are you interested in becoming a mature model, and would you like to know who are the famous ones out there? What are the tricks in how to become an older female model? Have you always dreamed of becoming a fashion model but you don’t know how to break into the mature modeling industry? Read on and we will teach you how.
Firstly, a modeling portfolio is key to any modeling career and so future clients will be able to view your work, your style, body type etc. You can book time with a photographer and then be able to send this portfolio to modeling agencies, or if you have one already, take this to castings.
There are plenty of opportunities you just need to bring out the best of your qualities in your portfolio and make it look as like you as possible. However, I would suggest also photographing a different side to you as well so there is variety and you could book more jobs this way.
Reach out to a studio and organize a photoshoot. Talk to them about what you want to achieve from the shoot and discuss clothing styles and make sure you feel comfortable on the day. Beauty has no age limit and they should make you feel like this. They will help you enhance your confidence and skills to create a standout modeling portfolio so casting agents will sit up and take you on for their projects.
The demand for mature models has never been greater and you can start your modeling career in your 40s or later. Older models can be used in different types of brands and even walk a catwalk too. The US clothing company American Apparel named a 62 year old model as the face and body of its lingerie campaign and large commercial companies such as Zara and Marks and Spencer work with older models. In terms of older women models, a model well into her 80s now, called Daphne Selfe has had an incredible career and is still being booked for jobs. She has worked for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. The 69 year old Maye Musk who has modeled for Swarovski and appeared on the cover of Grazia magazine and Prestige, shows that you can still make it big as a mature female model.
Once you have a modeling portfolio, you can approach an agency which is reputable, local to you and one that will be suitable for mature models.
As mentioned before, ensure that you create a collection of images that look like you, naturally beautiful in body shape, facial features and style.
The silver-haired rebellion is making its voice heard but also those women who are in their 50s, who are ‘too young’ and ‘too old’ to be cast for roles. But one vital thing to remember is that we come in all shapes and sizes and casting directors and agencies are looking for something different and are becoming more inclusive which is very positive.
There will be plenty of jobs in your area that need an older model, so if you are on an agency’s books, then you can be contacted immediately.
